Origin control
It is a key point in the Vegola value chain.
Trust relationship
Currently, we move 25,000 tons per year, distributed in 17 different products that come from 8 countries, depending on whether the product is indigenous to the area. With long-term agreements and 100% committed purchases for all our suppliers, we guarantee trust relationships and support the primary sector, as a fundamental part of the value chain.

In India, the origin control of our best-selling products is total thanks to our own agricultural structure.
All crops are harvested by hand, including pickles, baby corn and jalapeños. We have an agricultural team of 112 people, distributed in 23 agricultural offices with a scope of 300 km around our factory. This allows us to guarantee the freshness of the products and pack them a few hours after their collection.
We work with about 4,000 farmers per year, distributed in two harvests, with two clear objectives: guarantee the quantity and quality of their commercial contracts and take care of the primary sector and its people. To fulfill these objectives, Végola works with a "contract farming" model, providing continuous technical advice and financial support for all farmers' needs. This includes:
- Training and planning of the sowing.
- Personalized accompaniment during the entire harvest.
- Clear instructions on treatments and calendar.
- Training in safety and labor improvement.
- Special advice.
- Grouped harvest collection in their own plantations.
- Personal management of the long-term relationship.
In parallel, we seek the implementation of better agricultural techniques that allow:
- Development of the agricultural sector in the country.
- Reduction of pesticide use.
- Digitalization of the primary sector.

In 2017, Végola began an agricultural project in Benin with the objective of diversifying our raw material origins and guaranteeing a continuous and quality service throughout the year, reducing the risk of climate variations.
The choice of the country was key due to its location in tropical sub-Saharan West Africa, based on a temperate sub-equatorial climate that allows us to cultivate during two seasons, just like in India, and supported by political stability, with tariff agreements between countries.
The project carries within it the agricultural development of the region and respect for local culture and knowledge, as pillars of integration through a plan that collects and respects the peculiarities of the country and its agriculture.
Its large agricultural extensions and low crop diversity encouraged us to build a project that would provide the country with a novel product, with industrial-level production, mobilizing knowledge from other Végola plants, and generating greater development of the primary sector.
The Végola Benin team has 50 local employees, who work jointly with specialized teams from Spain and India. On one hand, this multi-country interaction allows us to share knowledge and professionalize the team, and on the other hand integrate Benin's characteristics into Végola, we currently have a productive and logistics center in the area of influence of Cotonou.
The agricultural program is developed in the southern coastal plain, covering the Atlantic and Ouémé area, reaching more than 14 municipalities, with more than 260 adhered farmers.
